The Best Netbook For Students (As of September 2009)
Apart of design student, most students need a laptop/netbook mainly for word processing, surfing the web and other light computing tasks. For that reason it makes sense for a student to get an affordable netbook model instead of a full-featured netbook. Here is a quick guide to some of the best netbook models based on your needs.
Best Budget Netbook Model: Currently, the Acer Aspire One is one of the cheapest models in the market. Despite its modest price tag, the Acer netbook does come with a set of competent specs that will be more than sufficient for a student.
This model has the standard Intel N270 Atom processor (1.6hz) and 1GB of RAM. The battery can last up to 6.5 hours on a single charge. Currently, the Acer Aspire One 10.1-inch netbook retails for around just $296 each.
Best Performance Netbook Model: If the student regularly does a lot of work on the netbook, it makes sense for him/her to get a more powerful netbook. For that, the Acer Aspire AS1410-8414 11.6-inch laptop would be a perfect choice. Although this is technically a laptop, its price and specs are more like those of a very powerful netbook.
The Acer Aspire AS1410-8414 11.6-inch laptop has a 1.4Ghz Intel Core 2 Solo ULV SU3500 processor, 2GB of RAM and a 250GB hard rive. This specs combination makes it more powerful than a regular netbook. The keyboard is also slightly larger, making it more comfortable for prolonged typing. Currently, it retails for around $437 a piece.
Best Overall Netbook Model:If you plan to get the best netbook that money can buy, look no further than the Asus Eee PC 1005HA netbook. It is a 10.1-inch netbook that has some of the best specs and features in the market.
For instance, its battery can last up to 10.5 hours on a single charge. Other impressive specs include 802.11b/g/n wi-fi and Bluetooth 2.1 connectivity. It also sports a new design that looks really good. The Asus Eee PC 1005HA netbook currently costs around $354 each.
